Cold weather: Andy Clarke thanks colleagues for amazing effort


Asda President and CEO Andy Clarke has been in touch to thank colleagues for their fantastic efforts in working so hard to serve our customers in the current severe cold weather.

Took me nearly 10 hours to do a 40 minute journey, wish I could walk to work or cycle but 31 miles away-Im not that fit!!

I have not missed a shift since the bad weather started - I live 7 miles away from the store in Patchway, my nearest store is Longwell Green but it takes me longer to get there than it does to get to Patchway !

i wasn't stuck at all before i was eventually went to work on time as well. So i managed to work through the snow as well

I live in Slack Head, Beetham and we are very lucky to have one of your employees in our community. His name is Neil (Smith?) . The main road through Slack Head is on a steep incline and unfortunately we are not on Cumbria CC's gritting list. Last year Neil spent hours gritting this road during the snowy period and he is there again this year. All the residents are very appreciative of his efforts.....particularly the elderley( of which we have a large number in the community). This is what I call "community spirit!" H W Parrott

My husband walks 2 miles to work and then back, EVERY day, rain or shine, at 5am! Snow dosen't stop him. And nobody's ever given him a medal!

my daughter works in asda washington .she has dug her car out for 2 weeks sometimes at 5.00am to get to work . and braved the un gritted roads

We in Asda Caerphilly had a Colleague People Manager Nicky Bristow, who took 7 hours,yes 7 hours, to get home on the 26.11.10 due to the snow and road closures.
