ASDA Kwik Cricket launch in Scotland
On Wednesday, May 18th, Kwik Cricketers from the Burgh Primary School in Galashiels received a visit from the national squad players Gordon Drummond and Ryan Flannigan who conducted an exclusive coaching session with the local youngsters. This event was organized in relation to the launch of the ASDA Kwik Cricket Competition in Scotland this year and will hopefully motivate more local kids to take up this amazing sport.
Gordon commented: 'We had a fantastic morning at Burgh Primary school yesterday to launch the 2011 ASDA Primary School Cup in Scotland. Both myself and Ryan really enjoyed the coaching session and I’m hopeful the kids did too. I firmly believe that this competition is a great way of spotting future cricket talent in Scotland and I would urge every Primary School in the country to get involved. I would also like to thank ASDA for their continued sponsorship of the event and cricket in Scotland.'
Emma and Leigh from the ASDA store in Galashiels came down to Burgh PS on the day and brought lots of refreshments which they handed out to the young players. Jaffa cakes disappeared in a matter of seconds while some of the fruits were left for the rest of the school to enjoy! Emma and Leigh also helped to promote our new website available at www.asda.com/kwikcricket where schools that sign up and register their online teams get a chance to win amazing prizes, including free ASDA Kwik Cricket sets and 1,000 cricket surprises for their kwik cricket teams.
ASDA Kwik Cricket Competition is already under way in Scotland and will culminate in the national final in Perth on June 14th! Ladies from the Galashiels store will be attending the Kwik Cricket festival in Netherdale on June 9th where they are going to help out again by providing refreshments.
