As Winter is over and it’s time for Spring driving– here are some top tips to get your car ready for Spring:

1. Tyres
If you have winter tyres on, now is the perfect time of year to switch to all-weather tyres. Check your tyres for cuts, slits and other damage before changing them and don’t forget the spare!

2. Upholstery
If you are one of those drivers who make cleaning your car an annual event, this is the time of year to do so. Give your car a good clean inside and out, by replacing the cover seats or carpets, you could make your car look and feel new.

3. Bodywork
Over the last few months, your car will have collected all sorts of dirt and grime from outside. You can easily remove this and give your car a quick scrub down with some specialist car shampoo.

4. Before you Drive
It is always advisable that before you set out on your journey that you check to see if your car is roadworthy. Areas to look at include checking tyre pressure, but also oil, water levels and the state of the windscreen wipers.

If you are holidaying abroad this year, we’ve put together five top tips to make your journey smoother:

Label your luggage: Lost luggage can seriously dampen spirits – whilst you might not be able to prevent this from happening, you can take measures to ensure that your luggage will be returned to you.

Bring sweets or gum: If you suffer badly from the horrific popping sensation when flying, swallowing is a great way to release the pressure. You swallow most when you’re chewing gum or sucking on sweets.

Triple check documents: Don’t forget to take your passport and printed boarding passes with you! Many low budget airlines will charge a hefty fee for those who forget to print their boarding pass.

Baggage allowance: Make sure you stick to the bagging allowance – check with your airline before arriving at the airport. In most cases, airports will also have a 100ml rule for liquids, fluids, gels, pastes and creams for hand luggage. This also includes toothpaste, lipstick and mascara.

Allow time for your flight: If you miss your flight as a result of lateness you could potentially lose hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. Check with your airline for details on when you should arrive.

This year we’re helping our colleagues and customers to fight the flu virus by offering a flu jab service for just £7 – a lower price than any other pharmacy in the country.

Our pharmacy colleagues have been fully trained to give the jab, so there is less waiting around for a nurse to see you and the entire process is complete in a matter of minutes. Administered by our pharmacists in a private consultation room, the flu vaccination is a great way to protect you and your family.

It’s available for all over the age of 16 years and colleagues will also benefit from our 10% discount, making combating the flu as the weather turns colder even more affordable. Flu jabs are available throughout the winter season into 2012 but for the best protection an early vaccination is recommended.

Speak to your Asda pharmacist to get your flu protection – an appointment may be necessary.
