Skelmersdale CDC5 colleague is a real martial arts expert

Nick Owen, the Training co-ordinator at Skelmersdale CDC5 (pictured on the right above) is proving to be a real sensation with gym goers. Nick has worked at the Skelmersdale CDC5 depot for over 8 years and just recently, has started to run Taekwondo classes at the local Bannatynes gym in his spare time. This has proved so popular and is in such high demand that Bannantynes has made the weekly evening class a permanent feature, which now runs three times a week. Nick is a well known and respected local martial arts expert, a Second Dan black belt who has represented England at a European Championship and has been teaching Taekwondo for 25 years. Nick is a great ambassador for the sport and says "Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and is also a Olympic sport and will feature in the Olympics in London. It is a great way of keeping fit and building self - confidence and getting to meet new people. It improves your co ordination and flexibility and is open to any age from old to young so why not look up a club near you or have a look on the internet at www.BTCB Poomse.com for more details"

Keith Laycock and the trustee's from Resolve International were very pleased with the facilities at Skelmersdale CDC5

ASDA Skelmersdale CDC were very pleased to welcome Keith Laycock, the Chairman of Resolve International, a small, local registered charity, into the ASDA Community Centre. Resolve International is a charity which aims to raise funds to combat child poverty in Nepal in the Himalayas. Keith needed somewhere for their 6 trustees to hold their monthly meeting and Erica Sharrock, Community Life Champion at ASDA Skelmersdale CDC5 was very "Happy to Help" and booked the group into the "Lean Room". Keith said afterwards " It was an ideal venue for our meeting, and reception and Mike Ekin were very helpful. Simon Grady the General Manager also popped in to say hello and we were really well looked after. It was a lovely quiet room which gave our trustees a very professional place to meet". Keith has booked the room again for a future meeting and is also going to arrange a fundraising & awareness day with us. If you would like any more information regarding Resolve International and the work that they do, please visit their website www.resolveinternational.org. Neil King, a department manager on the night shift at Bristol Distribution Centre, is preparing for the trip of a life time. After an extensive selection process, Neil was chosen as one of the UK representatives to attend the Wal-Mart International Shareholders' Meeting in Arkansas at the end of May. Over 15,000 000 associates from all around the Walmart world will be in attendance at the 5 day event. As well as networking and socialising with colleagues from around the globe, Neil will have the chance to study best practices from other countries and cultures, and bring these back to the depot at Portbury Docks. While he might expect to be busy working during his trip, Neil will also hope that this year's attendees will be treated to a private concert just as happened in 2010, when superstars like Jamie Foxx, Enrique Iglesias, Mary J Blige and Mariah Carey performed for the lucky few
