Over a weekend we raised over a £1000 for the Forget me not childrens hospice - we teamed up with our local high school and did a tombola and a bag pack.

Well done to all colleagues and thanks for playing your part in our great sales figures. Here's hoping many more weeks to follow.

We even had Andrew Moore doing gymnastics and playing rugby!
Pictures of regional groups of our very good looking and handsome George managers at their recent conference!!
On 1st April I will be taking part in the Derby 10K run and I’m now collecting sponsors for a very worthy cause!
The Derby Hospital Head and Neck Cancer Fund 10160 is a charity very close to my heart and any sponsors I can get together before the race will be donated to it.
Please don't feel obliged however if you would like to sponsor me then let me know, drop me a mail at gemma.buxton@asda.co.uk
This will be the 3rd year I have ran the Derby 10K – it’s all in the name of fun, but if I can help this very special charity then all the better!
Thanks Everyone!
Gemma
A number of ‘willing’ colleagues from George House are doing their bit for Movember by donating their top lip to charity to raise awareness and funds for mens health; specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
Executive Managing Director
George House has an ambitious target of £1000, so let’s show them our support by donating anything you can.
Last Tuesday the George Store Development team had their away day, for the afternoon and they did a community project in Lutterworth. They brightened up a fence at a local school by painting it the house colours as chosen by the pupils. This was a fantastic achievement and the school were absolutely thrilled by the difference that it made it was also a great way of team building.
Would you like to do something within our local community? Our Colleague Voice want to encourage teams to invest some of their away day time into the community so please let us know if this something you would like to get involved in.
On Thursday 26th May George
House celebrated 21 years of quality, style and value with a special Birthday
Big Brunch spreading the latest news to everyone, reflecting on what the
business has achieved in the last 21 years and what our plans are for the
future to continue our phenomenal success.
There was a celebration for the
colleagues who have worked with George over the past two decades, what an
achievement and a big congratulation to them all.
Big Brunch was followed by a 1990’s themed fancy dress party which kicked off with the board of directors entering as the Spice Girls (there’s not many businesses where you would see that happen!). All the teams really got into the spirit of the day including the menswear team turning up as Baywatch, the People Team as the Flintstones whilst Central Operations turned into Heroes and Villains for the day.
Asda’s very own Owen Hickey lead the event
where there was a food, fun and fizz including a music quiz which the Store
Development team stormed getting 54 out of 60 questions right.
The day ended on a real high with Owen hosting a game of Play Your Card Rights with his dolly dealers egging the crowds with the old catchphrases “What do Point Make? Prizes!”
A fantastic day was had by all and everyone is very much looking forward to the next 21 years in business!
George House was packed to the rafters last Tuesday when
over 400 colleagues from stores visited the home office to attend the bi-annual George Managers Conference.
The attendees had the opportunity
to see some of new products and initiatives and got to hear all about
our plans and priorities for the coming months from different
colleagues over the business and the executive team.
The day ended on a real high with an award ceremony which recognised the star performers of last year and fashion show which had everyone on their feet clapping.
