Colleagues & shoppers pay tribute to Asda Motherwell greeter Jessie

Jessie

Customers and colleagues have been paying tribute to Jessie McGowan, a much-loved colleague at our Motherwell store, who sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 86. Jessie worked at the store for 23 years after joining as a greeter at the age of 63.

Store manager Mark Allan said: "Anyone that has visited our store will know what a happy, kind and enthusiastic person Jessie was. She had a real ability to make people smile and was always getting the best out of those around her.

“If Jessie ever had a day off, we would have customers of all ages asking after her. That’s the type of person she was.

“She also did incredible work raising money for charities regionally and nationally. She will be sadly missed.”

Colleague Gillian Devine said: "She had a great sense of humour and could always raise a smile – and was the best person to work with.

“The store will not seem the same without her, and I know she will be very badly missed by all of the staff and the many customers she knew individually.”
