Update: Gemma completed her trek to the top of Kilimanjaro

Gemma Brindle, the Regional People manager for the South Wales Region, and seven other women from the Cardiff area did an eight day trek to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro – hoping to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research in the process!

Read her first and second blog – and see how it went below:

So I finally reached the top of the world’s highest freestanding mountain – Kilimanjaro!

More than anything it was the team that kept you going. Everyone I climbed with, be it my friends, the guides and the porters everyone had a vital role to play in the success of the challenge. When someone was feeling low, there was always someone who gave them support to make them believe.

It was an unbelievable experience and one I’ll never forget. I know that when you feel up against it, you can pull through! Be it in your own strength or the strength of a team mate. I never even owned a pair of walking boots 9 months ago so it has been a massive achievement.

I would just like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to help us reach our £10,000 target. We are currently sitting £9,591.05 but donations are still coming in so we are confident we will reach the target so again thank you!!
