ASDA Bideford deputy manager Don Murray has completed his solo bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats in aid of Tickled Pink. Don set off from Land's End on 1st September, just Don his bike and a tent. 10 days and 1,566km (973 miles) later Don arrived at John O'Groats after a gruelling 88 Hours and 28 minutes of pedalling the length of Britain! Don has raised over £2,500 for Tickled Pink a fantastic amount!
Asda Bideford held a sponsored walk along Westward Ho! beach on Sunday 7th September in aid of Tickled Pink. The day was a great success and we had great weather too! We would like to thank all those who participated, the Sea Cadets for helping to marshal the event and the Beach Cafe for use of their premises. In the picture Annette King cuts the ribbon at the start of the walk.
We presented a cheque for £200 to Dogs Helping Kids winners of the May and June Chosen by you, Given by us charity vote. Deputy Manager, Don Murray, presents Tracy and Vader with the cheque. Runners up were Read Easy and Relate Bideford who each received a cheque for £50.
Asda Bideford have been working with Bideford Bay Children's Centre providing fruit tasting sessions for Play days at Morwenna Park and the Angling Club. Also the young parents group at Wings.
ASDA Man provided a fruit snack and a bottle of water to the 180 Children and Sports Leaders at this years ASDA Active event held in the Bideford College Sports hall. The year 2 Children from local primary Schools took part in various sporting activities run by the Sports Leaders, year 9 & 10 students from Bideford College. ASDA Bideford Supported the Brazilian Themed Community Day at Bideford College Promoting our Community Life activities and giving away tropical fruits Bananas, Melon, Passion fruit, Pineapple and Pomegranate.
ASDA Bideford have been supporting the Cook 4 Life course run by Bideford Bay Children's Centre at Morwenna in Northam. ASDA have been supplying all the ingredients for the 4 week course and I have played a supporting role in the kitchen. So far we have made Potato and Leek Soup, Pizza from scratch and this week we are making Macaroni Cheese. The course is aimed at encouraging young mums to cook.
We hosted the customer service/retail work academy course run by Bideford Job Centre Plus and Westward Pathfinder helping people back into work. The attendees were given a presentation some tasks and a tour of the store. Next week they will each have a mock ASDA Interview.
