Asda Man visited year 3 classes at St. Mary's School for healthy eating the children tried 11 fruits and one vegetable. Beetroot, cucumber, red/green pepper, avocado, dragon fruit, sharron fruit, passion fruit, mango, clementines, blueberries, raspberries & pineapple.
Visited Winglets mum & toddler group at Wings to promote healthy eating the group were read the story of the hungry caterpillar before making Fruit Kebabs with a selection of fruit / veg including: Beetroot, Cucumber, Red Pepper, Avocado, Pineapple, Mellon, Mango, Sharon fruit, blueberries & Raspberries.
ASDA Bideford promoted Change 4 Life Sugar Swaps. We had a game for families to guess the sugar content of: Fizzy Pop, Muffins, Deserts, Sugary Cereals and, Juice Drinks Most customers were shocked at just how much sugar were contained in these items and how easy it is to exceed the recommended daily allowance for sugar in our diets.
ASDA Bideford hosted a Christmas supper for 40 elderly people with the Torrage Ageing Well project. The event was funded by the ASDA Foundation Christmas Fund. The guests each had a Turkey or Vegetarian main meal with a desert, a hot drink and a Christmas cracker! Our Cafe colleagues did a fantastic job with support from our GSM Rick, myself and Torrage Volunteers. All our guests had a really great time and were entertained by a Christmas Carol Quiz and a band playing Christmas music.
Tarka Child Contact Centre collected the toys and sweets from this year's Christmas Gift Appeal, receiving £174 in goods! Alix Long from the charity was over the moon with the gifts which will help make Christmas for the children and families they work with.
Headway North Devon won our Chosen by you... Given by us charity token vote for September and October. The charity who support people with brain injuries were delighted with the cheque for £202.06. The Runners up were Abbey Gateway and Hartland Harriers who each received a cheque for £50.
'Happy to Elf' visited Winglets group at Wings fruit tasting with the mums and kids. Fruits included: Avocado, Blueberries, Cucumber, Mangoes, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Red Pepper, Satsumas, Sharon Fruit & Strawberries.
'Happy to Elf' visited Dad's Group at Bideford Bay Children's Centre making bread with the dads and kids.
