Supported Abbey Gateway Club's 30th anniversary event at Petroc by running a Coconut shy for them. The activity was free to Club members as well as clubs from Taunton and Exeter. The Charity provides social opportunities for adults with learning difficulties. The event was attended by over 200 people including club members and their carers. Whilst I was there I promoted the community work we are involved in with a display board.
Asda Man Visited the Nursery & Reception classes at West Croft School to talk to the children about healthy eating and doing some fruit & veg tasting. The kids tried: Beetroot, Cucumber, Red Pepper, Blueberries, Sharon Fruit, Passion Fruit, Grapes and Pineapple. Many of the children discovered new fruits they liked!
Supported job seekers by conducting mock interviews at the job centre in Bideford. Helping them to brush up on their interview skills and to enable them find employment. Sahara Stockwell said: "Bideford Job Centre Plus are grateful to Asda for supporting our Jobseekers and look forward to working in partnership in future."
ASDA Man visited reception classes at St. George's School for healthy eating. The children tried eight different fruits and one vegetable which were: Avocado, Beetroot, Blueberries, Cucumber, Grapes, Red Pepper, Sharon Fruit, Passion Fruit and Pineapple. Corinne trainee teacher and ASDA colleague said "the kids really enjoyed the tasting and discovering new fruits they like."
I visited the Bideford Bay Children's Centre making bread using the schools toolkit activity with mums & toddlers.
Asda Man visited reception classes at St. Mary's School for healthy eating. The children have been reading Handa's Surprise so the kids tried the different fruits featured in the story. The fruits were Avocado, Banana, Mango, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Oranges & Tangerines were substituted for Clementines and Papaya replaced Guava.
