ASDA Man Visited Monkleigh School reception class to promote healthy eating, the children enjoyed trying a range of 12 different fruits including Cucumber, Red Pepper, Pomegranate, Sharon Fruit, Passion Fruit, Mango, Pineapple, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Grapes & Water Mellon.
ASDA Bideford supported a remembrance walk for Linny Horrell, a much loved colleague who sadly died last year. Linny helped transform the lives of 5 people through organ donation. The walk was organised by Linny’s family to remember Linny on what would have been her 50th Birthday weekend. The walk was to promote organ donation and raise funds for Live Life Give Life an organ donation charity. The walk took place on Sunday 14th June from Braunton to Bideford on the Tarka Trail. ASDA supported by giving out fruit and water to the walkers at the start in Braunton and later at Instow.
Held a Big Pink afternoon tea in the colleague canteen for Community Groups and Organisations who we work with including Bideford Bay Creatives, Connect, Learn Devon, North Devon Plus, Northam lodge, Northern Devon Foodbank, Tarka Child Contact Centre, Westward Housing, Wings, and Joyce Comfort from Torrage. The Mayor of Bideford also attended and we gave out certificates in recognition of the work these organisations do for the local community. The groups enjoyed our tea party and took the opportunity to make links with other organisations they don't normally work with. Visited Bideford Bay Children's centre, Bread Tasting and Bread Making with Mum's , Dad's and Kids. We made the bread and put it in foil tins for the families to take away and bake at home. the activity was one of the highlights during the centre's Health Week.
ASDA Bideford held an Organ Donor Awareness day in store with a display stand and leaflets promoting organ donation. The stand was manned by the family of Linny Horrell a colleague who sadly died last year but helped save the lives of 5 people through organ donation. Community Life Champion Peter Wilcox Spent a day at Pynes School, Fruit Tasting with the nursery children, and then Making Fruity Yoghurts with the three Reception Classes. The children loved making their yoghurts and couldn’t wait to try them!
Visited East the Water School spent the day bread tasting and bread making with Nursery and Reception Classes. The day went well producing three batches of bread which the children loved making.
Asda Man visited the Dad’s group at the Bideford Bay Children’s Centre, taking a range of fruit for the children to try including cucumber, red pepper, sharon fruit, passion fruit, pomegranate, pineapple, clementines, mango, blueberries and strawberries. The children thoroughly enjoyed their fruit feast!
