Asda Man visited the Dad’s group at the Bideford Bay Children’s Centre, taking a range of fruit for the children to try including cucumber, red pepper, sharon fruit, passion fruit, pomegranate, pineapple, clementines, mango, blueberries and strawberries. The children thoroughly enjoyed their fruit feast!
On Sunday 26th April ASDA Bideford in partnership with Northam Lodge and 1610 at Torridge Pool and Gym Held a Sponsored swim and gym triathlon in aid of Northam Lodge. The 12 Competitors Swam for 20 minutes ran on a treadmill for 20 minutes and had 20 minutes on an exercise bike. After the event each competitor received a medal at a small ceremony at Northam Lodge’s Rose Hill Activity Centre. The winning male Adam Watson who had a total distance of 17 Km 566M and female Tracey Found with a total distance of 15 Km 320M received a cup each. The event hopes to reach £1,000 in Sponsor money and a further medal will be given to the highest fundraiser. We would like to thank all the competitors, the marshals and Torridge pool for kindly giving their time to support this event.
ASDA Bideford hosted a group from Torridge Parkinson’s UK who came into the store and sang for our customers. The event forms part of the Parkinson’s awareness week and singing is part of the therapy for Parkinson’s sufferers. Our customers and colleagues enjoyed the 14 singers as they sang sea shanties.
Pynes Infant and Nursery School won our Chosen By You token vote for January and February. The school was delighted with the cheque for £202.90. The money will go towards a revamping their sensory garden. The children are working on plans for the garden and are looking for Volunteers to help one weekend to do the makeover. The runners up were Abbotsham Toddlers and the Appledore out of School Club were runners up each receiving £50.
Spent a day at Bideford Bay Children's Centre with the Multiples group in the morning and the Bi-lingual group in the afternoon, providing fruit for Mums and tots to try.
Asda Bideford supported the Tarka Child Contact Centre this Easter. Customers donated 24 Eggs to our Easter Egg Drop in store. Alix from T.C.C.C. was thrilled to be able to offer the children using the centre this weekend an egg each.
ASDA Bideford supported a group of young people with learning difficulties run by Wings South West. We supplied all the ingredients and Community Life Champion Peter Wilcox helped with cooking a Curry! In the picture are far left Kerry Tudor the co-ordinator from Wings and far right Peter Wilcox with some of the young people.
North Devon Precious Hearts won our Chosen By You token vote for November and December. The charity were formerly known as North Devon Heart Babies but changed their name to reflect that not all the children they support are babies. Kay (left) a founding member of North Devon Precious Hearts was delighted with the cheque for £205.40 the money will either go towards a buying a defibrillator or go towards a trip for the families they support.
