Community Life Champion Peter Wilcox supported the Bideford College Careers and Community fair. Our stall showcased what Career opportunities ASDA has to offer school leavers and also offered a healthy snack!
Community Champion Peter Wilcox cooked up 3 Sweet & Sour Stir-fries for Pynes Infant School year 1 Pupils. The children have been learning about the Chinese new year and the school asked if ASDA could help. To combine the activity with healthy eating I offered to cook them a healthy stir fry with Turkey, Wholegrain Rice, Onion, Carrot, Red Pepper, Green Pepper, Pineapple and Sweet & Sour Sauce. The children really enjoyed it!
ASDA Bideford welcomed a group of year 8 students from Bideford College into the store for an Enterprise Day. The purpose of the day was to give the kids an insight into the world of work, retail and ASDA, looking at: Recruitment, Career options and career paths, Customer Service Culture and the way we operate. They were given a presentation, shown some training videos and met our youngest Section Manager Ellis. Later they had a behind the scenes tour of the store and a buffet lunch. The students were then split the into 3 teams and undertook some tasks around Selling, Problem Solving, Creative Thinking and Analysis. At the end of the day the winning team were each given a £5 gift voucher.
ASDA Bideford supported the wear it, beat it, campaign day on 6th Feb in aid of the British Heart Foundation. in the photo are front row Cathy, Amanda, Sue, Sue & Michelle. Back row Eleanor & Peter with his son George who had open heart surgery at 6 months old.
Community Life Champion Peter Wilcox has been supporting the Job Centre in Bideford, by conducting mock interviews for job seekers who wish to improve their interview skills, offering an interview followed by a feedback session with some tips and advice to prepare them for their next real interview.
ASDA man visited the reception classes at St. George's School in Northam. The children to tried 10 different fruits and vegetables, to encourage them to eat more healthy foods. Pictured are ASDA Man with Mrs Chugg and some class 2 children from St. George's School.
ASDA Bideford got behind the Change 4 Life Sugar Swaps campaign encouraging families especially children to swap sugary foods for healthier options. Customers were invited to enter a competition by making healthier choices and going into a draw to win a fantastic Juicer worth £39! The lucky winner was Daniel Garner from Bideford.
ASDA Bideford held a competition for customers to win a hamper! Customers made a £1 donation to Dogs Helping Kids then had to guess where the snowball was. the Winner was Mrs Prades from Holsworthy who guessed closest to the winning square which was Z9.
