Galston Primary 6/7 came into store for a visit. They visited all departments, but particularly like the Checkouts, Bakery and Canteen, where they had lunch.
Drew McCulloch our Fresh Process Section Leader recently held a bag packing day in store to raise funds for Diabetes UK and raised over £400. Drew will also run The Great North Run this year to also raise funds for this cause.
This is the cook, and the ladies who prepare the meals for the elderly. Most of them are volunteers, and have been doing the work for several years.
As part of our commitment to the local community, every month our G.S.M. George, goes out into the community to visit several groups. This month we decided to visit BUCHANAN CENTRE to deliver the meals on wheel, to the elderly, George is pictured picking up the meals at the centre.
Asda won three awards from the SCOTTISH BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY. The award was presented to the store by Cathy Jamison the local Member of Parliment, to the store manager George Robertson, and Irene King, community colleague. Also present were some of the local groups the store has supported, over the year.
The group that came in second were Barleith Football Club, who received a cheque for fifty pounds. This is a new team and will use the funds to buy new equipment for the team. Third was the 2nd Kilmarnock Boys Brigade, who will use the money for a camp for the whole group.
Winner of the June Chosen by you - Given by us was the 1st Rainbow Guides from Hurlford. The group received a cheque for £200, which they will use for a camp for the group this year.
