The boys football club from St. John Paul Academy were in-store recently bag packing to raise funds for their team, and made £650 in a very successful afternoon.
Myself & Store Manager Garry visited the Scottish Mask & Puppet Centre to see some of their work. They host a range of shows and events, have an extensive library of material and a large puppet and mask collection from around the world. The Children's Wood are a local charity that have turned the North Kelvin Meadow into a well used community space, with various activity groups for young people and material that ties into the national curriculum for schools in the area to hold lessons outdoors. On June 7th they held their Summer Gala where I ran a very successful blind tasting session where children (and a few adults) tried to correctly identify a range of different fruits while blindfolded.
Bellcraig Community Centre host a 'Happy Mondays' activity club for local seniors, and earlier in the month they hosted our Big Pink Lunch event to raise funds for Tickled Pink. Alongside a lunch, the attendees enjoyed bingo, musical entertainment, and a raffle.
St. Mary's Primary School held their sports day last week, which the store provided water & fruit for, alongside medals, wristbands and stickers for all participants.
