Welcome to the Green Room page for
Spent part of tuesday afternoon doing a tombola to raise money for Help for Heroes and raising a total of £47 for the charity. Giving Oadby a chance to get some community spirit back in the store!
Asda Oadby supports Oadby Food Bank The oadby food bank has been recently opened to the locals. It is such a fantastic initiative, where the locals have identified a need in the community and are helping to the best of their ability. It is all run by volunteers living locally. We at Asda wish them all the best with their cause. Good luck, well done!
Asda Oadby supports First Step: First Step is an organisation run for male survivors and their supporters. They provide free confidential services to male survivors of sexual abuse and their supporters living in the city of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to enable survivors to make the “first step” towards feeling less isolated through increased personal power to makes choices. We at Asda Oadby are very pleased to be able to provide them with £300. We wish them well with their cause and hope their efforts transform many lives.
On Sunday 6th July CLC Tricia (Thurmaston) and CLC Sebrina (Oadby) helped and supported the Red Tractor Family Farm Day held in aid of 13th Century village church in Barkby, Leicestershire! The church is over 800 years old so needs to be regularly maintained so the the Kirk family invited the whole local community together to try and raise funds so vital building work can be done. It was a proper old-fashioned day on the farm with the chance try out being a farmer, check out some vintage farm vehicles and eat some yummy Red Tractor food! There were also an educational area to learn about the story of our food – from farm to table. Plus a chance to see many animals – from Iris the Shorthorn Cow to the newly-hatched (and super fluffy) turkeys! And of course, a trailer that took visitors around the farm. A fun filled day and to top it up lovely weather.
On Thursday 3rd July we had the Brownies from St.Peter's visit the store to have a store tour and make bread. It was a lot of fun and the girls enjoyed themselves during the activities. As the brownies celebrate their 100th birthday this year, we at Asda Oadby would like to wish them well with their future adventures.
On Thursday 3rd July, Beauchamp college had their Beachstock music festival where the young musicians showed their talents by singing and playing instruments. CLC Sebrina was invited to hold a stall promoting Asda Community Life. The bands performed exceptionally and were a delight to watch.
On Saturday 28th June, we had a cheque presentation for Cross Counties radio attended by Sir Edward Garnier (MP) along with Chairman David Harris-Boulter and the volunteers from cross counties. The Cross Counties Radio is a volunteer run radio station that does a tremendous amount of work in the local community. They have in the past also won the Mayor’s award for the amount of work they do. Over the last two years they have been a great support to our Tickled Pink charity events and we are pleased to be able to help them receive a grant from Asda Foundation for the amount £2154.00. A Big Well Done to them and best wishes to, continue making a difference to the community.
CLCs Sebrina and Tricia from Asda Oadbyand and Asda Thurmasto came together to fundraise for Women's aid on Saturday 3rd May. We had various activities taking place on the day such as a tombola, a cake sale, face painting and a book sale. We managed to raise £371 and also received an additional £200 from Asda Foundation through Top-Up funding. We are really pleased to be able to help such a worthy cause and wish them the very best with the remarkable work that they do.
