The Green Room - our terms and conditions

This page outlines the terms and conditions under which The Green Room operates and also describes the responsibilities of users when submitting material.

To help us maintain the quality of The Green Room and ensure that the site operates in accordance with Asda’s high standards, please make sure that you read and comply with the following rules.

If you are simply reading or viewing material made available in The Green Room, please note that:

  • All comments submitted in relation to stories posted on The Green Room are those of the person who posted the comment and so please understand that they are not necessarily the views of Asda.
  • Where The Green Room gives you a link to another website, Asda has no control over any material found on that site and so Asda cannot accept any responsibility for that material.
  • By using The Green Room, you agree: (i) not to copy or sell any of the material found on the site; (ii) only to use the site for lawful purposes, and in ways that do not infringe any other person’s rights; and (iii) not to do anything that could mean that the site is not available to be used by anyone else.
  • Where a competition is being run in The Green Room, you agree: (i) to abide by the rules that are published as part of that competition; and (ii) that Asda’s decision as to who wins any prize will be final.
  • If you have a complaint about any material published in The Green Room, please contact The Green Room team by using the ‘Join In’ form on the right-hand side of any Green Room page, by calling the Asda Colleague Communications team, or by sending a text message to 60300 (start your text with the word GREEN).
  • Where an item is offered for sale in The Green Room, that offer is not made by Asda and any deal that you make in relation to that item will be made with the person making the sale rather than with Asda.

If you are sending us any material which you want to have published in The Green Room, please note that:

All material sent in for publication in The Green Room is checked by The Green Room team to make sure that it complies with Asda’s policies (particularly those relating to ethical conduct). In relation to material sent in by Asda colleagues, that review includes compliance with the Colleague Handbook and Asda’s IT and security policies.

Please note that the name of the colleague(s) who send in any material for publication will be published with that material.

If any material that you send in for publication does not meet Asda’s standards, The Green Room team will either not put the material on the site or, if already published, will remove it from the site. The Green Room team’s decision in relation to publication will be final. Please note that we will not publish material that, in the view of The Green Room team:

  • is damaging to anyone’s reputation;
  • is obscene, offensive or hateful or is likely to upset, embarrass or annoy any person or is discriminatory based on race, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability or religion/belief;
  • discloses both the name and address or any other personal information about any individual, unless that person has agreed that his or her details can be published in that way;
  • uses a logo, emblem or other materials owned by someone else without their permission;
  • has been sent in by someone who refuses to give their name or by someone who is pretending to be someone else;
  • encourages anyone to commit a crime or assist in criminal activity;
  • shows Asda or any part of Asda’s business or brand in a negative light;
  • contains any advertising or promotes any web links to other sites; or
  • is likely to affect the availability or performance of The Green Room.

Disciplinary action may be taken against you if you send in material to be published in The Green Room that does not meet the standards that are set out above.

By sending in any material for publication you confirm that Asda has permission, free of charge, to use and publish that material in The Green Room and in other relevant Asda or Walmart Stores Inc (Asda’s parent company situated in the United States) communications.

Personal information consents

By sending in any material for publication Asda will assume that: (i) you agree to your name and any other personal information contained in that material being shared with the external company that operates The Green Room and then published in The Green Room; (ii) all of the other people who appear in the material (including any photos or videos) have agreed to that material being published; and (iii) where a child under the age of 14 is shown in the materials, that child’s parent or guardian has given their consent to publication of the material.
